Accra’s Makola market area is home to tailoring shops, small garment workshops and machinery dealers. Kumasi anchors traditional textile and kente clothing production. Power supply

Ghana runs on 230V / 50Hz. The country’s historic power outages (locally known as “dumsor”) remain a concern for workshops, so the same logic as elsewhere applies: a servo or direct-drive motor’s low start-up current is easier on small generators than a clutch motor.

The main seaport is Tema Port, east of Accra, with Takoradi serving the west. Inland delivery to Kumasi is by road and adds an extra leg to your cost estimate.

Ghana has consolidated all customs filing into the ICUMS system (locally called UNIPASS) — every declaration is submitted through this single online window. The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) applies conformity requirements to some products, and imports attract duty plus VAT, NHIL and the GETFund levy.
